Cork Academy Of Music was established as a voluntary initiative in 1994 based on the recognition that there is a need for a music institution to serve people in the north side of Cork City. It was founded and has been led until today by the voluntary commitment of Bob Seward and a loyal Board of Management, music teachers and staff.

The ethos of the Cork Academy Of Music is based on the belief that music can be used as a tool for social inclusion in areas where there has traditionally been a lack of opportunity to acquire education and skills. The staff and tutors take a uniquely holistic approach towards music education by including personal development along with instrumental and theoretical tuition. The Academy has a very successful Foundation and Access course to third level.

Our long-term goal is to provide access to music education for all ages and groups in the community and to promote participation and empowerment.
